Regulation and safety of funds
IronFX is a trade name of the Notesco group, and which company you sign with matters more here than at most brokers. Notesco UK Limited is authorised by the FCA (FRN 585561) and its clients fall under the FSCS for up to GBP 85,000. Notesco Financial Services Ltd holds CySEC licence 125/10 from Limassol, with Investor Compensation Fund cover up to EUR 20,000 — but that entity now states it no longer accepts individual investors, so new EU retail clients are effectively closed out. Notesco SA (Pty) Ltd is an FSCA financial services provider in South Africa (FSP 45276).
Everyone else is onboarded to Notesco (BVI) Limited, licensed by the BVI Financial Services Commission (SIBA/L/24/1175), or in some cases to group companies in Anguilla and Bermuda that hold no licence at all. In May 2025 the Anguilla Financial Services Commission published an investor alert stating that Notesco Int Limited, trading as IronFX, is not and never has been licensed there. The offshore route is where the 1:1000 leverage lives, and it is also where there is no compensation scheme and no local ombudsman.
Fees and spreads
The pricing splits into two families. The fixed and floating spread accounts — Standard, Premium, VIP — charge no commission and build the cost into the spread, roughly 1.6 pips on EUR/USD at the Standard tier, tightening to about 1.2 pips on VIP as the deposit rises. The STP/ECN accounts quote from 0.0 pips and add commission instead: about $6 per lot per side on Raw ECN, which lands near $12–13.50 per round turn. That sits above the $6–7 round turn IC Markets, Pepperstone or Tickmill charge on comparable raw accounts.
Non-trading fees deserve attention. IronFX charges a $50 annual inactivity fee after twelve months without trading. Withdrawals above $300 are free, but smaller withdrawals carry a fee of around $50, and a 3% charge applies where funds are withdrawn without any trading activity. Swap charges apply to overnight positions, and swap-free Islamic accounts are available on request.
Platforms and tools
IronFX is a MetaTrader 4 house. You get MT4 for Windows and macOS, a browser-based WebTrader and mobile apps, plus an MT4 Advanced build that adds order-management and sentiment tools on top of the standard terminal. There is no MT5 and no cTrader, which rules the broker out if you want the newer terminal's depth of market, netting accounts or its stronger strategy tester.
Around the platform sit a free VPS for accounts funded with $5,000 or more, the TradeCopier copy-trading service, PAMM and MAM accounts for money managers, and third-party research from Autochartist and Trading Central. The IronFX Academy carries structured courses, a large webinar archive, ebooks and a podcast — one of the more complete education offerings among mid-tier brokers.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funding runs through bank wire, debit and credit cards, Skrill, Neteller, FasaPay, Perfect Money, UnionPay, local transfer options and crypto. IronFX does not charge a deposit fee and covers wire charges on deposits above $10,000. Card and e-wallet deposits usually credit within the day; wires take one to five business days.
Withdrawals go back to the funding method and are processed in around 48 hours on average, but the $300 threshold, the 3% no-trade charge and the documentation checks are where most user friction starts. Public review threads are full of withdrawals left in a pending state, so keep your KYC file current and withdraw to the same method you deposited from.
Customer support
Support runs 24/5 over live chat, email and phone, covering more than a dozen languages including Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Russian and Spanish — the reach you would expect from a broker that markets across the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. The first line is increasingly an AI chat assistant that hands technical questions to a ticket queue.
Response quality is the recurring complaint in public reviews: users describe template answers repeated across tickets, particularly once a withdrawal is disputed. Account and compliance questions are better handled by email, where you keep a written trail to point back to.
Track record and complaints
IronFX carries a history that no review should skip. In 2015 hundreds of clients, many of them in China, could not withdraw funds; the broker said it was investigating bonus abuse, and CySEC closed a year-long investigation with a EUR 335,000 settlement in November 2015 over client protection, control mechanisms, risk management, outsourcing and corporate governance failings. A second CySEC settlement of EUR 100,000 followed in 2024 over the restrictions on marketing, distributing and selling CFDs to retail clients.
The British Columbia Securities Commission added Notesco Limited dba IronFX to its investment caution list in December 2019 for trading without registration, and the Anguilla FSC issued its own alert in May 2025. Trustpilot shows 2.3 out of 5 across 716 reviews, 51% of them one star. The company is still operating and still licensed in the UK, the EU and South Africa — but the pattern in the complaints is consistent enough that it belongs in any decision.
Who is it for
IronFX suits MT4 traders who want a broad account ladder, PAMM or MAM structures, or the tools that come with a large education library, and who can open their account with the FCA-regulated UK entity where the protections are real.
It is a weak fit for anyone chasing the cheapest raw-spread pricing, anyone who wants MT5 or cTrader, and anyone outside the UK, the EU or South Africa who would land on an offshore entity. If withdrawal reliability is your first criterion, brokers with a cleaner complaint record and a similar product range are the safer starting point.

IronFX
Before you apply
- Minimum age
- 18+
- Documents required
- Government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID or driving licence) and a recent proof of address
The entity you are onboarded to depends on where you live, and it decides your leverage cap, your compensation cover and the rules that apply to your money. Check which company appears on your client agreement before you fund the account.

Open the registration form
Register on ironfx.com with your name, email, country of residence and phone number. The country you enter decides which Notesco entity your account is opened with.
- 2.

- 3.
Pick an account type
Choose between the fixed and floating spread accounts (Standard, Premium, VIP) and the STP/ECN tiers (Raw ECN, Zero Spread, Absolute Zero). Spreads, commission and leverage differ on every tier.

- 5.
Download MetaTrader 4
Install MT4 for Windows or macOS, use the WebTrader in a browser, or trade from the mobile app. Free VPS hosting is available once your deposit reaches $5,000.
Good to know before you start

Why you have to verify your identity
Every regulated broker and exchange must confirm who you are before you can trade or withdraw. Expect to upload a passport or national ID and a proof of address under three months old (utility bill or bank statement). Most platforms approve documents within a few hours; a mismatch between your ID and the name on your payment method is the most common reason for delays.

How funding your account works
Deposits by card or e-wallet usually land within minutes; bank wires take one to three business days and may carry a fee from your bank. Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with, which is an anti-money-laundering rule rather than a platform choice. Start with the minimum, confirm a small withdrawal works, then scale up.

What to expect on your first trade
Open a demo account first if the platform offers one, then place a small live trade on a liquid market such as EUR/USD or BTC/USD. Check the spread, the commission and the swap before you confirm. Set a stop-loss on every position — losing a small amount quickly is the cheapest lesson in trading.

Frequently asked questions
Is IronFX regulated?
Yes, through several separate companies. Notesco UK Limited is FCA-authorised (FRN 585561), Notesco Financial Services Ltd holds CySEC licence 125/10, and Notesco SA (Pty) Ltd is an FSCA provider in South Africa (FSP 45276). Clients elsewhere are onboarded to Notesco (BVI) Limited under a BVI FSC licence, or to unlicensed group companies. The protection you get depends entirely on which entity your account sits with.
Is IronFX safe to trade with?
The UK and EU entities are supervised by tier-1 regulators and hold client money in segregated accounts with compensation cover. The record around the brand is mixed: CySEC settlements in 2015 and 2024, a BCSC caution listing in 2019, an Anguilla FSC investor alert in 2025, and a 2.3 Trustpilot score built largely on withdrawal complaints.
What is the minimum deposit at IronFX?
Around $100 for the Standard fixed and floating spread accounts. Raw ECN and Live Zero Fixed Spread accounts start at $500, ECN VIP at $10,000, and the VIP tier at $20,000.
Which platforms does IronFX offer?
MetaTrader 4 only — desktop for Windows and macOS, WebTrader in the browser and mobile apps, plus an MT4 Advanced build with extra order and sentiment tools. There is no MT5 and no cTrader. PAMM and MAM accounts and the TradeCopier copy-trading service run on top of MT4.
Does IronFX charge an inactivity fee?
Yes. Accounts with no trading activity for twelve months are charged about $50 a year. Withdrawals under $300 also carry a fee of around $50, and a 3% charge applies if you withdraw funds without having traded.
Does IronFX accept clients from the US or Iran?
No. IronFX does not accept residents of the United States, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Syria, North Korea or other OFAC-sanctioned jurisdictions, and 2026 reviews also list Australia and India as unavailable.
