What clients complain about
- Trustpilot rates CPT Markets 2.6 out of 5 across 61 reviews, with 52% one-star against 30% five-star — the weakest distribution among the brokers reviewed here.
- The critical reviews repeat a narrow set of allegations: profits confiscated on the grounds of alleged bonus abuse, accounts terminated after a winning period, account managers said to have interfered with client funds, and withdrawal requests left unresolved.
- Positive reviews praise instant deposits and quick account opening.
- Trustpilot flags the company as potentially associated with high-risk investment promotion, and CPT replies to only about 15% of negative reviews.
- Sixty-one reviews is a small sample, but the theme inside it is consistent.

Regulation and safety of funds
CPT Markets runs three licensed companies and one unlicensed one. CPT Markets UK Limited is authorised by the FCA (FRN 606110) and serves UK clients from the separate cptmarkets.co.uk site. CPT Markets (PTY) Limited is an FSCA financial services provider in South Africa (FSP 45954, registration 2014/214730/07). CPT Markets Limited is licensed by the Belize FSC (6616058), and CPT Mena Financial Services LLC holds UAE licence 20200000245. A fourth company, CPT Operation Limited, is registered in Cyprus (HE 459315) without a regulatory licence.
The distribution matters more than the count. UK residents are explicitly excluded from the international site and handled by the FCA company, where negative balance protection and compensation cover apply. Almost everyone else — the 180 countries the group advertises — contracts with Belize, which is a light-touch jurisdiction with no investor compensation scheme. The UAE company holds the regulator's introduction-and-promotion category rather than a licence to hold client money, the same arrangement several of its competitors use.
Fees and spreads
Three live tiers. Classic opens at $20, quotes from 1.4 pips and charges no commission — a cheap way in, priced accordingly. ECN needs $1,000, quotes from 0.1 pips and charges $5 per lot, which works out competitive for an active trader. Prime is the third tier at $1,000 with tighter pricing for higher balances. Leverage runs to 1:1000 on the offshore entity and is capped at the regulatory limit for UK clients.
The fee that should decide this for occasional traders is the inactivity charge: $50 a month once an account has gone three months without activity. That is five times what FXTM charges on the same three-month clock and ten times the industry norm. Deposits and withdrawals carry no broker-side fee on any method, which is genuinely good — but the inactivity fee can empty a small dormant account inside a year.
Platforms and tools
MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and cTrader, plus the in-house CPT mobile app. Offering cTrader at all puts CPT ahead of most brokers its size, because it gives depth-of-market pricing and a cleaner order interface than MetaTrader for traders who want it. Copy trading, social trading and MAM accounts are supported for managed money.
The product list runs to more than 180 instruments: currency pairs, indices, metals, energies, share CFDs and crypto CFDs. That is a mid-sized catalogue — broader than a pure FX shop, well short of the 700-plus share CFD lists at the larger brokers.
Deposits and withdrawals
The funding list is unusually long: bank wire, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, Skrill, Neteller, PayPal and crypto in USDT, Bitcoin and Ethereum. CPT charges nothing on either side. Cards and e-wallets clear between instantly and 24 hours, local bank transfers in one to two business days, and international wires in three to five.
What the fee schedule does not tell you is the dispute pattern. The dominant complaint in public reviews is not slow payment but withheld payment: profits confiscated on the grounds of alleged bonus abuse, accounts terminated after a winning run, and withdrawal requests left unresolved. If you take a deposit bonus here, read exactly what conditions attach to it and what the broker may do if it decides they were breached.
Customer support
Support runs 24/5 in nine languages — English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, French, Arabic, Russian and Turkish — with live chat answered in around two minutes and email inside half a day. For a broker selling across Southeast Asia and the Gulf, that language coverage is the right shape.
Where it falls down is in public. CPT replies to roughly 15% of its negative Trustpilot reviews, against 93% at FXTM and 94% at Equiti. A broker facing serious allegations and answering one complaint in seven is making a choice about how much of the record it wants to contest.
Track record and reputation
CPT Markets has been trading for around eighteen years and claims service across more than 180 countries. No regulator has published a warning against it, and the FCA and FSCA licences are real and checkable.
The public record is the problem. Trustpilot rates CPT 2.6 out of 5 across 61 reviews, with 52% one-star — the worst distribution of any broker reviewed here. The allegations are specific and repeat: account managers said to have traded or moved client funds, profits confiscated over alleged bonus abuse, accounts closed after a winning period, and withdrawals that stall. Trustpilot itself flags the company as potentially associated with high-risk investment promotion. Sixty-one reviews is a thin sample, and thin samples skew negative — but the consistency of the theme is what gives it weight.
Who is it for
A UK client who signs with CPT Markets UK Limited gets an FCA-regulated account with cTrader available and a $20 entry point, which is a reasonable package on paper.
Everyone else is trading with a Belize entity at a broker whose complaint record is dominated by withheld profits and closed accounts. The $50 monthly inactivity fee rules it out for anyone who trades occasionally. If you do open an account here, decline the bonus, keep balances small until you have tested a withdrawal, and treat any account-manager contact about your trading as a reason for caution.
How to open an account
CPT Markets
Before you apply
- Documents required
- Government-issued photo ID and a proof of address
Three licensed companies and one unlicensed operating company sit behind the brand. A UK client contracts with CPT Markets UK Limited under the FCA; almost everyone else contracts with CPT Markets Limited in Belize, where there is no compensation scheme. Read the client agreement, and read the bonus terms before accepting any credit — profit confiscation over alleged bonus abuse is the single most common complaint against this broker.

Good to know before you start

Why you have to verify your identity
Every regulated broker and exchange must confirm who you are before you can trade or withdraw. Expect to upload a passport or national ID and a proof of address under three months old (utility bill or bank statement). Most platforms approve documents within a few hours; a mismatch between your ID and the name on your payment method is the most common reason for delays.

How funding your account works
Deposits by card or e-wallet usually land within minutes; bank wires take one to three business days and may carry a fee from your bank. Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with, which is an anti-money-laundering rule rather than a platform choice. Start with the minimum, confirm a small withdrawal works, then scale up.

What to expect on your first trade
Open a demo account first if the platform offers one, then place a small live trade on a liquid market such as EUR/USD or BTC/USD. Check the spread, the commission and the swap before you confirm. Set a stop-loss on every position — losing a small amount quickly is the cheapest lesson in trading.

Frequently asked questions
Is CPT Markets regulated?
Partly. CPT Markets UK Limited is FCA-authorised (FRN 606110) and CPT Markets (PTY) Limited is an FSCA provider in South Africa (FSP 45954). Clients elsewhere contract with CPT Markets Limited in Belize (licence 6616058), and the UAE company holds the regulator's introduction category rather than a dealing licence. A fourth group company in Cyprus holds no licence at all.
Is CPT Markets safe to trade with?
The licences are real and no regulator has warned about the firm, but the public record is poor: Trustpilot rates it 2.6 out of 5 with 52% one-star reviews, most alleging confiscated profits over claimed bonus abuse, terminated accounts and blocked withdrawals, and the company answers only about 15% of them. Treat bonuses as a risk, test a withdrawal early, and do not keep a large balance with the Belize entity.
What is the minimum deposit at CPT Markets?
$20 for the Classic account. The ECN and Prime tiers both require $1,000.
Does CPT Markets charge an inactivity fee?
Yes, and it is severe: $50 a month once the account has had no activity for three months. Deposits and withdrawals themselves carry no broker-side fee on any method.
Which platforms and instruments does CPT Markets offer?
MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and cTrader, plus the CPT mobile app, with copy trading, social trading and MAM accounts. The catalogue runs to more than 180 instruments across forex, indices, metals, energies, share CFDs and crypto CFDs.
Does CPT Markets accept clients from the UK or Iran?
UK residents cannot use the international site; they are onboarded to the FCA-regulated CPT Markets UK Limited instead. Iran is on the restricted list along with the US, Canada, Cyprus, Israel and North Korea.
