Regulation and safety of funds
FXTM is the retail brand of the Exinity group, and 2026 rewrote what that means. The CySEC licence held by ForexTime Ltd was voluntarily renounced, and Exinity UK Ltd — the FCA-regulated company trading as FXTM UK — stopped its trading services on 7 April 2026, closed account access on 17 June and returned client money. A broker that a year ago could be described as tier-1 regulated no longer is.
What remains is Exinity Limited in Mauritius, holding Investment Dealer licence C113012295 from the Mauritius FSC and FSP 50320 from South Africa's FSCA, plus Exinity Capital East Africa Ltd, licensed by Kenya's Capital Markets Authority as a non-dealing online forex broker (licence 135). Exinity Global Financial Services LLC in Dubai holds a UAE Category 5 permission (20200000270), which is the regulator's marketing and client-introduction category rather than a licence to hold client money. For a retail trader that means segregated accounts and negative balance protection, but no investor compensation scheme and no FCA or CySEC ombudsman behind the account.
Fees and spreads
The ladder is wide. Micro asks $30 and quotes from 1.7 pips on MT4 with no commission. Rewards Plus ($100) and Rewards ($200) run on MT4 or MT5 from 1.5 and 0.9 pips, again commission-free. Advantage needs $500 and quotes from 0.0 pips with commission between $3.50 and $35 per lot depending on the instrument, and Advantage Stocks ($200) prices share CFDs from four cents with no commission. The commission-free tiers are the ones most clients land on, and at 0.9 to 1.7 pips on EUR/USD they are not cheap. Leverage is set by account type as well as by entity: up to 1:5000 on the Rewards tiers, 1:3000 on Advantage and 1:1000 on Micro.
Non-trading costs deserve a hard look. FXTM charges $10 a month once an account has been inactive for three consecutive months — one of the shortest grace periods in the industry, and a recurring complaint in public reviews. Card withdrawals cost around $3, e-wallets are free, and wire transfers carry the usual correspondent fees. Swap-free Islamic accounts are available.
Platforms and tools
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, on desktop, in the browser and through the FXTM Trader mobile app, which is one of the better-built broker apps. There is no proprietary desktop platform and no cTrader. FXTM layers its own MT4 indicators, a set of calculators and an advanced charting package on top of the standard terminals.
The instrument list is genuinely broad for a MetaTrader shop: around 50 currency pairs, 300+ share CFDs, 17 indices, ten-plus commodities and a dozen cryptocurrencies, with UAE stock CFDs added for the Gulf audience. What is gone is FXTM Invest, the copy-trading service the broker was known for, discontinued in 2024 with nothing put in its place — a real loss if passive following was why you were looking here.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funding runs through Visa and Mastercard, bank transfer, Skrill and Neteller, crypto, and local rails that matter in FXTM's core markets — M-Pesa in East Africa among them. FXTM does not charge deposit fees, although deposits under $30 can attract a small charge. E-wallet withdrawals are often processed within the hour; wires take three to five business days.
Withdrawals are where the complaint volume sits. The recurring pattern in public reviews is not refusal but friction: documents rejected and re-requested, verification loops, and payouts that take longer than the published times. Keep your KYC file current, withdraw to the method you funded with, and expect the first withdrawal to be the slow one.
Customer support
Support is reachable by live chat, email, callback and an unusually long list of messengers — WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and Facebook Messenger — in English, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and other languages. Phone lines run on weekdays, roughly 08:00 to 20:00, and weekend cover is thin.
One thing FXTM does better than most: it answers its critics. Trustpilot records replies to 93% of negative reviews, usually within two days. That does not fix a delayed withdrawal, but it does mean complaints are engaged with rather than ignored.
Track record and reputation
FXTM has been trading since 2011, founded by Andrey Dashin, and claims more than a million clients across 150+ countries. That scale is real, and so is the reputational cost of it: Trustpilot's weighted TrustScore is 2.5 out of 5 across more than 1,100 reviews, while the all-time split is friendlier at 45% five-star against 26% one-star; the distance between the two is the weight Trustpilot gives recent reviews. The profile is built on withdrawal delays, verification rejections, account restrictions and the inactivity fee. There are no regulator warnings against the firm.
The bigger story of 2026 is the retreat from regulated Europe. Giving up a CySEC licence and closing an FCA entity is a strategic choice, not an enforcement outcome, and FXTM has been open about it — but it moves the broker from the tier-1 column to the offshore one, and the rating here moves with it.
Who is it for
FXTM suits traders in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America who want MetaTrader with a very low entry cost, local funding rails and support in their own language, and who value a broad instrument list over the tightest possible spread.
It is a weak fit for anyone who needs tier-1 regulation behind the account, anyone who trades rarely enough to meet the three-month inactivity fee, and anyone who came for copy trading. Cost-focused traders will find cheaper raw pricing elsewhere; safety-focused traders will find stronger licences elsewhere.
How to open an account
FXTM
Before you apply
- Minimum age
- 18+
- Documents required
- Government-issued photo ID and a proof of address
Which Exinity company holds your account depends on where you live, and after the 2026 European exit most retail clients are onboarded to the Mauritius entity. Check the company named on your client agreement before funding.
- 1.
Open the MyFXTM account
Register on fxtm.com with your name, email, phone number and country of residence. The country decides which Exinity entity opens your account.
- 2.
Verify your identity
Upload a government-issued photo ID and a proof of address. Reviewers report the document checks are strict, so send clear, current documents.
- 3.
Pick an account type
Micro starts at $30 on MT4, Rewards Plus at $100 and Rewards at $200 on MT4 or MT5, Advantage at $500 with raw spreads plus commission, and Advantage Stocks at $200 on MT5.
- 4.
Fund the account
Deposit by card, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller, local rails such as M-Pesa, or crypto. FXTM does not charge a deposit fee, though deposits under $30 can carry a small charge.
- 5.
Download MetaTrader
Install MT4 or MT5 for desktop, use the browser terminal, or trade from the FXTM Trader app for iOS and Android.
Good to know before you start

Why you have to verify your identity
Every regulated broker and exchange must confirm who you are before you can trade or withdraw. Expect to upload a passport or national ID and a proof of address under three months old (utility bill or bank statement). Most platforms approve documents within a few hours; a mismatch between your ID and the name on your payment method is the most common reason for delays.

How funding your account works
Deposits by card or e-wallet usually land within minutes; bank wires take one to three business days and may carry a fee from your bank. Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with, which is an anti-money-laundering rule rather than a platform choice. Start with the minimum, confirm a small withdrawal works, then scale up.

What to expect on your first trade
Open a demo account first if the platform offers one, then place a small live trade on a liquid market such as EUR/USD or BTC/USD. Check the spread, the commission and the swap before you confirm. Set a stop-loss on every position — losing a small amount quickly is the cheapest lesson in trading.

Frequently asked questions
Is FXTM regulated?
Yes, but no longer by a tier-1 regulator. Exinity Limited holds Investment Dealer licence C113012295 from the Mauritius FSC and FSP 50320 from South Africa's FSCA, and Exinity Capital East Africa Ltd is licensed by Kenya's CMA (licence 135). The CySEC licence was renounced and the FCA-regulated UK entity closed in April 2026. The Dubai company holds a UAE Category 5 permission, which covers marketing and client introduction rather than holding client money.
Is FXTM safe to trade with?
It is a long-established broker with more than a million clients, segregated accounts and negative balance protection, and no regulator warnings against it. The caveats are the 2026 exit from FCA and CySEC regulation, which removes compensation-scheme cover, and a 2.5 Trustpilot score across 1,100+ reviews driven by withdrawal delays and verification problems.
What is the minimum deposit at FXTM?
$30 for the Micro account on MT4. Rewards Plus starts at $100, Rewards and Advantage Stocks at $200, and Advantage at $500.
Which platforms does FXTM offer?
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on desktop, in the browser and through the FXTM Trader mobile app. There is no proprietary desktop platform and no cTrader. FXTM Invest, the broker's copy-trading service, was discontinued in 2024.
Does FXTM charge an inactivity fee?
Yes, and it starts early: $10 a month once the account has gone three consecutive months without trading activity. Card withdrawals also cost around $3, while e-wallet withdrawals are free.
Does FXTM accept clients from the UK, the EU or Iran?
No to all three. The FCA-regulated UK entity stopped trading on 7 April 2026 and the CySEC licence covering the EU was renounced, so neither market is served. Iran is on FXTM's restricted list alongside the US, Canada, Japan, Iraq, Syria, Cuba, Belarus, Myanmar and North Korea.
